Cutting process where a hole is cut in the workpiece using a cylindrical saw.

The process

A cylindrical tool provided with inserts along one circular end fed towards the workpiece, the chip breaking create a circular hole.

Often a standard twist drill in the center which creates a pilot hole before the circular tool contacts the workpiece.

Usually cutting fluid is supplied for cooling the process and allowing a higher cutting speed.
