Rolling process in which the workpiece passes through a series of rollers that gradually shapes the workpiece into the required profile. Beskrivning The process The work piece [1], typically a raw bar, is first fed through a pair of rollers [2] to form a coarse beam. The beam is then passed on through multipurpose roller pairs [3] that have both horizontal and vertical rolls that are adjusted according to the desired profile. An edge roller [4] ensures that the upper and lower surfaces of the beam are parallel. The beam goes at last through another multipurpose roller pairs [5] which pushes out the final profile. Profile rolling Advantages and disadvantages In comparison with alternative methods Suitable for mass production limited tolerance Good surface finish Good material properties Limited design of the cross section Only suitable for long products
